Set up your Home Brain
Your Home Brain is the PC that stays on at home. It keeps the main copy of your notebook and answers questions with a local AI.
Before you start
- Install Create Spot on the PC. See Install on Windows.
- Plug the PC into power. A wired network cable is best, but Wi-Fi works too.
- Check what it can do on the Home Brain page.
Steps
- Open Create Spot and give this computer a name, like Kitchen PC.
- The app checks the PC and tells you its size: Starter, Good, Better, Great or Best.
- Pick This is the Home Brain.
- Open This computer. If the local AI isn't installed yet, follow the link to install Ollama, then come back.
- Click Get the recommended model. It can take a while: the files are between 2 GB and 45 GB.
Keep it running
Closing the window keeps Create Spot running in the tray, near the clock. To stop it, right-click the tray icon and pick Quit Create Spot.
For now, the Home Brain runs while you are signed in to Windows. Set Windows to stay awake: open Settings, then System, then Power, and set Sleep to Never when plugged in.
