Can't find my Home Brain

Work down this list. Most problems are fixed by the first three steps.

1. Is the Home Brain on? Check the PC is awake and Create Spot is running. Look for its icon in the tray, near the clock.
2. Are both on the same network? The device must be on your home Wi-Fi, not a guest network or mobile data.
3. Is the network set to Private on Windows? Open Settings, then Network & internet, click your connection, and pick Private network.
4. On a Mac: did you allow local network access? Open System Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Local Network, and turn on Create Spot.
5. Type the address by hand. On the Home Brain, open Devices to see its address, like 192.168.1.20. On the other device, pick Type its address and enter it.
6. Restart both. Quit Create Spot on both devices and open it again.

Away from home

Devices only reach the Home Brain on your home network. Changes you make while out wait, and copy over when you get home. If you use Tailscale, you can type the Home Brain's Tailscale address when pairing to reach it from anywhere.
